Equipment Thefts
The National Equipment Register (NER) is a theft prevention and recovery service. Owners can register their equipment with NER in order to maintain an inventory of equipment should a theft occur. By registering with NER, you'll receive a 2.4" x 3" decal used to deter thieves and inform people that the equipment is registered in a national database. NER has a 24-hour hotline used by police officers to identify the true owner of any registered equipment.

We will continue to work with our members and law enforcement to do everything possible to decrease surveying equipment thefts. If you experience a theft, please complete the updated FSMS Crime Report Form and contact Beth Embleton at programs@fsms.org so that we can keep our Documented Stolen Survey Equipment database current.
