A graduate of Florida State University, Representative Scionti earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law. After serving as an Assistant Attorney General, Assistant State Attorney, and Assistant Statewide Prosecutor, he later established his own private law practice. As a prosecutor, Michael gained extensive experience successfully prosecuting drug traffickers and violent felony offenders, as well as prosecuting white-collar corruption and organized crime. Early in his prosecutorial career he served not only his community, but also his country and joined the United States Army Reserve where he currently serves as a Captain.

Upon his return from the Iraq War, Michael decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and serve in the Florida Legislature. Elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006, Michael as a freshman Representative was selected by his colleagues to serve as the House Democratic Whip. He currently serves on the State's Safety and Security Council, Infrastructure Committee, and Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee, as well as appointed to the Commission on Capital Cases. He previously served on the State's Government and Efficiency Council and the Joint House and Senate Select Committee of Property Tax Reform, and served as the ranking member on the Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee.
